About Us

Woolwell Table Tennis Club est. 1998 and formerly known as DML Woolwell TTC.

Woolwell Centre Woolwell TTC is currently the largest club in Plymouth Devon and South West England with players regularely attending from all over Devon and Cornwall. The club currently has around a dozen English Table Tennis Association qualified (and CRB checked) coaches, including ETTA Coach of the Year in 2006, Paul Whiting & national ranked number 4 woman player Marketa Myskova, both ex-internationals. At least one, and normally more, will be present at all Woolwell sessions.

We have a café open every Sunday evening, manned by club volunteers with all proceeds going to Woolwell Table Tennis Club funds. The club has 16 teams playing in the Plymouth & District League (contact John Smith for further details) as well as many others in national competitions. Our teams have won the Ladies & Veterans British Leagues in recent seasons, and, representing the Plymouth League, the National Junior Inter-League teams title. Woolwell TTC Championships are held every spring & an awards evening (usually part of a 24 hour marathon fun event) held in May, as well as other all day & social events. In addition to this website, regular e-mails & a printed newsletter are issued to update members on club matters.

Sessions
Woolwell Table Tennis Club currently meets on Sunday evenings (September to July) at The Woolwell Centre from 4pm to 9pm. We also use the Woolwell Centre on Wednesday evenings for Coaching and Plymouth & District League matches during the winter months & for coaching sessions from April to July.

Also new Saturday morning coaching sessions have been added.

All coached sessions are run by at least 2 high quality coaches.

For new players to the club just turn up to any Sunday session to get a feel for the club.

All players appropriate standard will be assessed by the coaches.

Sundays:
4.00 to 6.15pm - Beginners & Inexperienced Non-coached play & matches (£2.50)
4.00 to 6.15pm - Beginners & Inexperienced Coaching & matches (£4.50)
5.30 to 9.00pm - Intermediate & Advanced Coaching & matches (£4.50)
6.15 to 9.00pm - Intermediate & Advanced Non-coached play & matches (£2.50)

Block bookings of all Sunday evening sessions can be made & are strongly encouraged as they ease administration for the club, also the coaching sessions are limited to 10 players so once these are all block booked there can be no pay on the day.

Non-Coached Play:
From August to December £30
From August to July 2009 £60

Coached play:
10 week blocks £40

Wednesdays:
5.30 to 7.00pm - Beginners & Inexperienced Coaching (£4.00)
5.30 to 7.00pm - Intermediate & Advanced Coaching (£4.00)

10 week blocks £35

Saturdays:
10.00 to 11.00am - All levels coaching (£3.50)

Club Membership Fee
The club has now introduced a membership fee for 2008/09 of £10 for adults, £5 for juniors & full time students (£20 family).
Only members will
• be able to play for the club in Plymouth League, British League, National Junior League etc.
• benefit from reduced rates at club sessions & be eligible for block bookings
• continue to benefit from the huge discounts on offer from Thornton’s Sport & Leisure (non-members will pay 10% more, payable to club funds)
• play in Club Championship events

Non-members will be allowed to attend club sessions at the discounted rates before either joining the club or reverting to higher charges.
